A Suresh Chandra, President, PMI Pearl City Chapter, on Memo Issued by Government of AP for ISLD

Dear All

I am pleased to inform you that Government of Andhra Pradesh has reiterated their support to PMIPCC’s ISLD initiative.

Last year there was GO issued by Education Department advising all the educational Institutions to celebrate ISLD on 3rd February. However, the GO was silent on the continuity of the same every year. Sathya Venkatesh, Board member of our chapter with his perseverance ensured that a fresh GO is issued advising to celebrate ISLD across all the educational institutions every year on 3rd February.

On behalf of the board and chapter members, I thank Venkatesh for his efforts. I also seek support from all the leaders of the Region to facilitate the implementation of ISLD celebrations in educational institutions across your States. I also take opportunity to thank Pune Chapter team for implementing these initiatives in Pune.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Warm Regards
Suresh Chandra

Shankar Lakkaraju, PMP on ISLD 2012

Dear All,

It was a good day  today. I  conducted ISDL2012 on behalf of PMI-PCCI in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Atmakuri Rama Rao School, Rd#45, Jubilee Hills.  School Principal Smt Satya and event coordinator  Smt Sujata were very  supportive and called for a special assembly  at  11:00 AM for ISLD celebration. I  reached the school by  10:30 along with my  colleague Mr Nishit.

Before I  tell  something about the event, I am happy to  tell that their internal leadership team made arrangements in 10 minutes time with amazing discipline. All the 450  students settled down with pin drop silence in 10 minutes time. The credit goes to  their teachers. No  wonder always such teachers are role models for children.

The event started with Ganesh Pradhana. Then event coordinator addressed the children briefly and gave control to me. Half an hour time was allocated for the addressing. Thanking kids with warm “Namstey  Children” [That is the culture there] I  started my  session. All children in one voice said “Namste”. I  talked to  them for 25 minted with lot of examples of Indian leaders. The leaders cited in the talk were Gandhi, Vivekananda, Sir Moksha Gundam Visveswarayya with emphasis on Gandi Ji. I explained how each one of them can become good leaders.

Children showed lot of interest and listened carefully  all through the address. At  the end pledge was read out by me and all the children in one voice repeated the pledge.  Later Principal Smt Satya addressed the children briefly  and the meeting was concluded.

It was a wonderful experience and I  extend my  thanks for the PMI-PCC for conducting this event. Please find the snaps taken at  the following facebook page.

With Regards,

Chembeti Aravind,Tech Lead at Electronic Arts on ISLD 2012

Hello all,

Good morning.
I have completed conducting ISLD celebration at "Vivekananda Public School for Underpriveleged" and I am very happy to share my experience.

Just a brief description about the school: this school was started by a man called Mr.Murthy almost 30years ago. It provides free education to underprivileged people. Currently it runs classes from 1st standard to 10th.
This school runs by donations and has a board of directors that include some senior IAS officers.

I have been in touch with the management for last one week and asked them to circulate the message early enough to at least class leaders so that they can lead the pledge. I wanted this way because instead of me or some other teacher reading it, I felt it would be great if students do that: just like charity begins at home, leadership should begin at school!

Along with 2 other colleagues, I went to the school at 8:30AM. After finishing regular assembly, group of class leaders read the message and everyone, including us, repeated the message.

After that, one teacher explained the message line by line.

Next, I asked them to name at least one person who they consider as a leader (but that name should not be associated with any national or any other public personality). Examples came from within the students. That was a wonderful experience. Another teacher explained how one should behave and how one can become as a leader. Entire discussion was about the students only, we haven't talked about any person outside the school. I again wanted this because, I wanted a strong connection.

Overall, the program went very fine, which took me back to some 20years. I hope you people also would have experienced the same and I am eager to hear your experiences.

I really thank PMI-PCC, for initiating such a wonderful program.

Best regards
Aravind, Chembeti

Soma Sekhara Reddy, on ISLD 2012

Dear Friends,

I had the opportunity to conduct the ISLD at Govt High School, Darga, Hyd and the session was well received by the Students and Teachers. I felt immensely happy to be among them talking about the importance of developing leadership competencies among students. One of the Student came forward and conducted the Leadership Pledge (Video attached and also available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYO4vQrgdek)

Kesavan Kalyanaraman, on ISLD 2012

Hi Nagini,
Today I went to Sri Aurobindo International School. They have assembled their 7th, 8th and 9th students. The strength was around 120~150. Since they said they have Video projector in place I shared with them 2 inspiration videos and a presentation on leadership. In between we had interactive sessions where in students shared their views on the video clippings and leadership qualities.
I requested a student volunteer to read out the pledge which all the students along with took the pledge.
Management has appreciated the show very and they have requested a repeat of the performance on 10th for their 10th standard students, who were not able to attend because of their preparatory exams.
I have taken few snaps and will share with team later.
Overall the response was very Great!!

Thanks for the oppurtunity

Qurrath ul ain Nuzhath, on ISLD 2012

3/Feb/2012
Hello Nagini,
I went to Brilliant Grammar School at Masab tank first. This school has been taking the pledge from the past 2 years. This is the 3rd year. It is impressive to see that though the school doesnt have enough infra-structure, they have a commitment towards the students progress.

Since the school does not have a big auditorium to assemble all students, the head boy and head girl went to each class and took the students thru the pledge. Before the pledge, the head boy and girl gave a brief speech about leadership which inspired the students. Later, we assembled on the terrace with 9th Std students. The prinicipal suggested that I give a brief speech to the students, but I suggested that the school head boy deliver the speech and take the pledge. After that, I spoke for a few minutes to inspire the students. The principal, Ms Chandana, said that the students were happy to see a PMI-PCC member spend some time with them. :-)
The school will send you the pictures soon.
From there, I went to the Royal Institute of Technology and Sciences (RITS) near Lakdi-ka-pul. Since the MBA students are going to have their exams soon, the attendance was less - about 50 of them attended.
Since this was the first exposure about ISLD, SLCB and PMIPCC to the students, I gave them an introduction about these via a presentation. They had arranged for a projector, so, it became easy for me to give the presentation as well as take the students thru the pledge. Some of these students are already working or have business of their own. So, it was difficult to expect much enthusiasm from this group.
But, at the end, as I was about to leave, some students came forward and requested for a copy of the pledge !!!! This really gave me a deep sense of satisfaction, as college students do not get inspired as easily as school children do. I had some print outs of the pledge handy which I gave to them readily. The management too is eager to get the SLCB course conducted in their institution (both for MBA students as well as the Engineering college which is in Damergidda, Chevella, R.R District, AP. I hope to do so in the month of March with the help of other volunteers.

I will be sharing the photos soon.
As I sit, typing this email, I have a smile on my face - a smile of contentment and satisfaction.
Thanks to PMI-PCC for this initiative and helping me in realizing my dreams of "giving-back-to-the-society" through this endeavor.

Regards
Nuzhath. :-)

Kishore V S S Kaligotla, Application Support Analyst, on ISLD 2012

Hi All,

After conducting the ISLD event at Z P High School, Kottaguda, Hyderabad, I have joined Sumit Mathur at Meridian School, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

Adding on to Sumit's summarization, it was an eventful session and was a great success. The best part was that the entire session was more interactive than a one way presentation or a lecture. I look forward to participate in more such events in the coming days.

Please find some pictures taken during the sessions.

Nagini Chandramouli, PMP, Director ISLD and Women's Initiatives

Dear Friends,

I am excited to see the mails from our passionate volunteers since morning about their experiences with the ISLD event today.

I  would like to thank all of you and your friends and colleagues who joined us to make ISLD 2012 felt across the educational institutions.
Its because of the valuable time and efforts from each one of you which made this event such a great experience.
Some of these institutions were new to us and some already are in our league of ISLD since 1-2 years.
Conducting the ISLD at Government schools and under privileged schools, was real great contribution towards building future leaders.

My sincere thanks to Suresh, Venkatesh, Srinivasu, Sanath and Sandhya to support me in this assignment.

I feel privileged to be leading such a good initiative and my hearty congratulations to all of us on our accomplishment today.
